this could be an issue with our exclusions; we would not be able to use this
as a really general tool, since it will leave out exes etc.

actually, snarf is a bit specific, isn't it?
it uses some extra files added to the archive for tracking some
things...
actually that's a pretty cool approach.
maybe we should develop it in that direction *more*
so that it can be generalized zipper++ kinda thing.
